Welcome to the Interventions blog.
This site will record the progress of six collaborative projects that set out explore the overlap between social and cultural research and design. All meetings, presentations and ideas will be represented here. The blog will occasionally feature guest writers, sharing their insights into different aspects of the engagement. We warmly welcome comments and opinions so please contribute. The project is being run by Joe Malia, an Interaction Designer and visiting research fellow at Newcastle University, based in London and Dr Monica Moreno Figueroa Lecturer in Sociology at Newcastle University.
The Interventions project itself will provide a platform for researchers from Humanities and Social Sciences to work with selected designers and design practices with backgrounds in products, communications and interaction design.
During the programme, participants shape lines of enquiry within research to develop a series of interventions that :
- confront or support specific issues raised.
- use design as a medium to spark public engagement.
- use design as a mechanism to perform research in new ways.
Events culminate in a public exhibition in Newcastle, UK.
